“You two son of a bitches are going to college!” -Captain Dickson (Ice Cube)
This movie continues the adventures of Jenko (Channing Tatum) and Schmidt (Jonah Hill) as they now go undercover in a college to stop a drug ring. While there, Jenko gets dragged into the world of being a college football star, while Schmidt fells lonely and feels like their partnership is breaking apart. Will they be able to make things up, or will college separate them apart? This film did a brilliant job in terms of being a sequel. Throughout the film, the two characters are told constantly just do the exact same thing as the first film, and instead of being a copy and paste of the original, there comes about many different plotlines due to them being in college. For example, how would Schmidt and Jenko handle going through fraternity hazing; or how would Schmidt be able to fall in love with a girl who has more of a connection to someone he knows? With them out of highscool, the possibilities are endless for how their adventure will go this time around. Not only does this film succeed in being a good sequel, it also makes fun of movie franchises by parodying future films ranging from 23 Jump Street all the way to 300 possible sequels, and cartoon spin offs, etc. Though it seems like Sony isn’t making a 23 Jump Street, this film is a good way to finish the adventures of Schmidt and Jenko, leaving the audience to imagine what the future holds for them. Plus, with this film addressing doing the exact same thing as the first film, I honestly don’t know if thunder will be able to strike a third time.
